135. Elliptical Storm (The Beacon Ejected)

The beacon is hurled into the night
into the dark open space,
hurled with such force
as to bend its original round shape
into an elliptical sphere,
the atmosphere raping its sides
tearing off the outer layer of its very skin,
peeled off,
teeth gritting,
and eyes shut tight
holding fast against the pain.

This is the Release, Old Self says,
the stone embedded within
now pushed out like child born
into the deep universe.
It plunges down and into the blackness
protective coating pulled away
exposing the pure and raw thing it really is ...

(the dead skin leaving
shredded away from the sphere
holes in its fabric
that clothed such a “pearl” within our brain.)

Did we not love it
despite what it was?
Did we not cherish it
despite the evil that put it there?

This was the child that was ...
harboured within us
loved and protected
loyalty gone deep to our heart.

This is the Release, Old Self says,
the words embedded within
now pushed out like child born
deep into the universe.
It plunges down and into the darkness
protective coating torn away
exposing the true and evil thing it really is.

Did we not love it
despite what it was?
Did we not cherish it
despite the ones who put it there?
Did we not hold it
despite the fear it gave us?
Did we not give it life
despite the breath it robbed from us?
Did we not carry it
despite the weight that bent our back?

This is the Release, Old Self says,
the evil embedded within
now pushed out like child born,
the universe now cradling it.
It plunges down and into the vastness
protective coating no longer there
exposing the wounded animal it really is.

Do we not still love it
despite what it is?
Do we not still cherish it
despite the monsters that put it there?
Do we not still embrace it
despite the repulsion we feel for it?

This is the child that was ...
harboured within us.
This is the child that is ...
set free to be known,
set free to be healed.

Do we not offer it
despite a world that rejects it?
Do we not free it
despite our wanting to kill it instead?

This is the child that was ...

This is the Release.
