194. In the midst of a whirlwind

David took this picture. This is where we would love to be

Whew! The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity and a lot of visiting. Most of it with Graham’s dad, David, who was visiting from Victoria for Graham’s birthday. It was all very exciting and on top of the creation of our new blog The Outlet which has also filled us up with a lot of excitement. Which is not up and running yet though.

David is one of our closest friends and spending time together is precious. Not long ago Graham said to me – “you and David bring out the best in each other”. We told David that who responded with “yah. That would be Graham.” Yah. I guess it would. But we do feed off of each other’s energy quite a bit. When he visits we tend to have very long talks together about everything, life, Graham, the universe, etc. Often we will talk for hours, like about 6, and forget about everything else, including eating. We are a great stimulant for each other.

Some of the kids Inside feel pretty safe with David too and pop out to tell him all kinds of things or show him things that we have. He’s pretty good with it all. The only down side with it is that we have to recover after all the stimulation. We put aside our usual routines in order to hang out with David. We don’t regret doing that but we do get pretty pooped out.

Yesterday David left, to return home. And we felt a moment of sadness as we watched him leave. But today we are back on track. Of course, in the back ground of the last few days have been hundreds of thoughts about the new blog. And we have been anxious to get going on it. We’ll try not to let this blog get too neglected but a lot of our focus will be on The Outlet. When we start projects we often get a really strong “group” focus. I mean that most of us Inside focus on the project. It’s a very strong energy and we have to make sure we balance it out with other activities such as going for walks, meditating and reading. We don’t want to become too obsessed.

Oh one thing we have found to be amazing. Going to sleep at nights. Over the past few weeks when we finally go to bed we focus on slowing down our heartbeat. Patience talks to us Inside and keeps saying “Slow down your heartbeat. Allow yourself to relax and slow down.” Usually within 10 minutes we are asleep and we are amazed how effective it is. We do take medication to sleep but it doesn’t kick in that quickly. At some point we’re not going to need that medication anymore. We’re just afraid to let it go right now but focusing on our heart beat seems to really work.

Anyway, talk to soon we hope. We’ll let you know when The Outlet is up and running. You might like to take a look at it too.
